Colour Scheme for webpage

Colour Scheme

From looking at other websites they use quite light colours. Also mainly pink/purple colours, possibly to aim at a female audience, because women are more likely to be interested in flower photography.

In my website i will use these type of colours, shown on the colour scheme chart: they are quite light/neutral colours, but also quite appealing.

I am now going to generate some website colour schemes on:

'Website Colour scheme chooser
' - this is so that I can work out a colour scheme for my website.
Its a Html colour combination chooser

I quite like these colours i like the more lighter/neutral version. The green and purple colours would go well with a flower website.

These colours are quite nice, they are quite dark and neutral. The darkish background would help bring out the photos.

I like these colours, there quite neutral and they would go well with my website.

These colours would not be very good to use for my website. They are too dark and would not go with my type of website.

I quite like the purple and pink colours.

These colours are my favourite. There is a mixture of neutral and bright colours, which balances it out. Pink is very girly and would work well with the target audience. The green also fits with gardens and flowers.

Navigation plan for my website

I want each page to be able to go to any other page on the website, so it is easy to navigate around the website.

Explain what my website is about. PROJECT BREIF

Project Brief
Kim's Flower Photography

My website is going to be on my own 'Flower Photography'. My website is going to be called 'Kim's Flower Photography’. The purpose of my website is to present my own work of flower photography. I will show photos of flowers that I have took at different places I have been and also show the colours of flowers by colour.

My target audience will be for a female audience and I think people who will look at this website will be people who are interested in flower photography. I don’t think there is an age to what my website can be aimed at, mainly just women.

My website is going contain my own collection of photos. I’m going to categorise my website with Links, which are going to be: ‘different places I have took photos of flowers at’ and also ‘by colour’, so people can easily navigate around my website.

On my website I will have an ‘About Page’ which will include a brief description of where I took the photos at and why I became interested in photography. It will include some thing like this:
‘I became interested in photography when I started doing a photography course in Bath. I found that I was good at taking photos of flowers. I also found it was very interesting and I am also quite passionate about this'.

For my website I need to look at different fonts, a colour scheme, other similar sites and overall layout of my website.

In this portfolio I will put ideas together by doing some mock ups and designs. I will firstly draw ideas then design the best ones in digital format.

Inital ideas for website

For initial ideas i am thinking of doing a flower website possibly of my own photos.

Firstly I need to look at other similar sites to see what colour schemes, layouts, language and text they use, to get some general ideas.

Here are some Examples of photography websites that would fit my type/ purpose that i am looking at.

www.petalscape.com/galleries.php

http://www.andysmall.co.uk/shop/6/index.htm

This flower photography website as an about page.
In my website i need to explain what my website is going to be about.
This website 'Specialises in garden and flower photography' and it talks about how she became interested in photography and what she is involved in relating to photography.

From looking at these websites you can see that most of them have a gallery page with all there photos on. They also have links to navigate from each page for example by the name of different flower types or colours of flowers.

on each of these websites the colour background is a plain/simple colour e.g white/blue. to make the photos stand out

From Looking at these websites I need to think about, these ideas for my website:

  • Logo - title for site
  • Intro/about page - explain what my website is about
  • Fonts
  • Ideas of visual things - colours, layouts
  • images - think about size, colour and composition
  • Possibly use multimedia such as videos. e.g from youtube
  • Website mock ups
  • layout

My site needs to be distinctive from other sites, but needs to fit in with the type/purpose of the website.
